Confirmed from Gibson Pond Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Nice park. It has a paved loop walking path through the forest and well maintained picnic area. There are plenty of swing benches and a set of regular swings for kids. It's got 2 covered areas. One is for larger parties and the other is for a smaller group. My husband and I come here often.

This is by far my favorite park in Lexington for adults. :) It's relaxing and calm with the water and trail in what can only be described as the Lexington Amazon. Just a great place to breathe in nature, listen to the birds and get some fitness steps in. Come work on your laptop or sit and swing in front of the pond.

What a beautifully manicured park! There are swings, swinging benches, and a boat launch pond side. A large pavilion resplendent with picnic tables, lights, fans, grills, and cleaning station. Great water fill station and restrooms. A half mile loop through the woods is paved, well cleared, and peaceful.

Beautiful park. You have a small boat ramp for kayaks, a dock, simple walking trail. The grounds are clean and welcoming. With the massive pond, cooking facilities and swings to enjoy your time looking at the water plus the wild life it's a great place to spend your time.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Gibson Pond Park

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
