Glacier Way Trail is a nice trail that you can hike or bike. It is a mixture of fire roads and single track and offers great views of the surrounding mountains, canyons, and even Donner Lake.
One of my favorite local trails that I recommend to all visitors who are looking for something relatively flat but with a view. You can go as far or as short as you'd like with an out and back option or continue further into the Donner trail system. Bring your snowshoes in the winter!
A hike with a very good view of donner lake, as well has truckee valley. Very out of the way except for Tahoe donner people, but there is an extensive network of trails that go all around Tahoe donner, and also there’s a continuous trail that goes all the way down to downtown truckee, paved more towards the bottom and…
Had a fantastic time snowshoeing on this trail in mid-December 2022. It starts out with a nice forested area and then moves on to a more open field which affords view of Donner Lake and the surrounding mountains.
