Confirmed from Lower Carpenter Valley Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Lower Carpenter Valley Trailhead
“Extremely beautiful, but does have a lot of mosquitoes which is expected walking next to a valley this time of year.”
The Lower Carpenter Valley Trail is an amazing and beautiful trail to hike. It is located just North of Truckee and is mostly completely flat as it leads to and borders Carpenter Valley.
Absolutely lovely place to hike. Excellent for all levels. Bring lots of bug spray and it will be an enjoyable hike
One of the more beautiful hikes in the area. Had no access for the last 100 years until the Truckee Sierra land trust bought it 2 years ago. It is one of the most pristine landscapes in the Truckee Tahoe area. The trail follows a fork of Prosser creek, on dirt on banks and boardwalks on the meadows.
This trail is on Nature Conservancy land that opened up the public. A short hiking trail with boardwalks over sensitive wetlands. We visited in late fall and not many animals and no wildflowers. I am sure it is amazing in the spring. .

“There is an unmarked, faint trail out of the far end of the parking lot that heads south along creek.”
“There is a river/stream which flows through the valley, a few boardwalk sections of the trail, and wide open views of the valley and surrounding mountains.”
