Confirmed from Grant Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Grant Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (4,447 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 5 mentions

“Park is really well maintained.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 25 mentions

“My 70 year old mother who has issues walking was able to go up and down the stairs and enjoy the beautiful trails.”

Beautiful park. Be sure to follow the dirt (not paved) path south for best views of the lake. Seven bridges are very cool as well, easily about to get 4 miles total.

★★★★★ — Bikes , Feb 2024

What a delightful park. The trails are easy to navigate, lush with plant life and there are excellent views of the lake, as well as access points to the beach. There are areas to relax, have a picnic — a very family friendly space, dogs included. Bike, hike, play disc golf or take the kids to a swing set.

★★★★★ — Kai , Aug 2022

Spent a day here with the family and had a wonderful time. Nice large areas to run around and play, playgrounds, picnic shelters and tables, paved and dirt trails along the lake. The trails are beautiful but not too long. The beach is nice and easy to access. Trails are a combination of paved, rock, and dirt.

Majestic place! Seven Bridges and Grant Park is an amazing place. My 70 year old mother who has issues walking was able to go up and down the stairs and enjoy the beautiful trails. Best park so far.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
