Confirmed from Greene Valley's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Massive park with trails for hiking & cross-country skiing, plus picnic areas & camping facilities.
What runners say about Greene Valley
“The paths are well maintained and the gravel is good with hybrid bike tires.”
“The preserve features a mix of wooded areas with beautiful oaks, and prairies, and meadows.”
“Beautiful walking trails with a combo of sun and shade on wide dirt/gravel trails.”
“The trails are well marked and was a perfect distance for kids.”
“Beautiful place for a simple, peaceful and scenic hike!”
The path is nice and well maintained. Even with recent rain the limestone path is not "muddy"
Not too bad, a decent size parking lot, actually lots as there is more than one and I've used both. Various trails allow you to take longer loops or shorter depending on how you feel that day.
Beautiful walking trails wide enough to safely pass others in opposite direction. Easy to follow trail maps. Well groomed. Beautiful scenery and fall colors! Large parking lots.
The miles of trails at this Forest Preserve are great for hiking, running, or biking. I hiked 7 miles of trails, and there's still other trails to explore. The preserve features a mix of wooded areas with beautiful oaks, and prairies, and meadows.
Trail conditions & character
“The Green Valley Overlook is only open to the public from May until October on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.”
“The preserve features subtle elevation changes that keep the trails engaging, along the DuPage Creek whether you are on foot or on a bike.”
“My dogs always have a great time here; when you go in the spring thru fall there are plenty of great doggie-blazed trails through all the brush in the middle.”

“Non winter months it is stroller friendly, however, as snow melts the wet/mud-like paved path isn’t something I’d recommend for strollers.”

“) There are only rough bathroom facilities, but we still enjoyed a beautiful fall day here!”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
