Confirmed from Groom Creek Loop Trail #307's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Groom Creek Loop Trail #307

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (194 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Take your time on this trail, and soak up all of the beautiful scenery around you.”

🌳 shaded & cool 7 mentions

“This trail offers breathtaking views and a fairy tale environment, with shaded and rocky paths suitable for hiking and mountain biking.”

I found a white Bluetooth headset on the trail. I put in a transparent box on the sign at the entrance. If anyone loses it, please go and get it. Phoenix temperature is 104F, but here is only 75F. It’s really good place to hike. My first time on 6/21/2025.

If you like solitude and mountain forests, this is a great trail. I'm 73 and had no problem with the gentle ascent. I just hiked a half hour up the trail and was rewarded with a crest-line view, and then hiked back down. Only passed one other hiker and a man on horseback. It's predominantly shaded.

Ran this section of trail twice in two weeks. It's a really fun trail. There is a steep section of switch backs at about mile 3 and pretty steep the rest of the way to the top. Once you reach the top you are rewarded with some amazing views. Moderate trail but be ready for some climbing.

★★★★★ — James , Nov 2021

Great trail for shade, views, variety, and a good hike. Turn right for longer, more flat journey. I prefer turning left though, because it has better views, more shade, and brings you more directly to Spruce Peak.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
