Confirmed from Harpeth River State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking trails to the point where the river passes through an 1800s tunnel, creating a waterfall.
What runners say about Harpeth River State Park
“The trail is clean and well maintained and there were porta-potties at the bottom.”
“Beautiful views, some steep narrow trails but we managed with 6 kids- one of which was 3 and walked mostly alone.”
“The roads and trails are well marked and well kept.”
“Peaceful place to go and connect with nature, the hike to the overlook is quite inclined and narrow but totally worth it.”
“The waterfall trail is pretty and an easy hike.”
Fantastic view! There are several stairs to get up to the top, but it's not a bad climb. Totally worth it. There's also a small waterfall on the back side of the bluff. There are several great places to set up a hammock. The hiking paths are short, so if you're looking for a long hike, this isn't the best spot.
Hiked the bluff trail. According to my Apple Watch, from the far car park to the top of the bluff and back is 1.42 miles. The way up took about 30 mins, which accounted for a couple stops to admire moss, ferns, and lichens. I’m a slow hiker, preferring to observe and enjoy the vibes rather than making progress.
One of the best places to hike with beautiful views from the overlook and a waterfall pouring in from a tunnel. We tried doing this hike a couple of weeks back when the snow storm hit but we could not do it as we fell down every two seconds because of the slippery hike 😁 Ample amount of parking place .
Beautiful views, some steep narrow trails but we managed with 6 kids- one of which was 3 and walked mostly alone. Parking is a pretty good walk from the trailhead especially if you can’t get a spot at the lower parking. Overall great experience and can’t wait to visit again soon!
