Confirmed from Hazel Wolf Wetlands' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
A serene pond trail featuring bird-watching opportunities.
What runners say about Hazel Wolf Wetlands
“Beautiful, tranquil hiking spot but watch for widow makers especially after windstorms.”
“The trail starts in a Reid’s tail area, but once you get to the loop, it is quiet without road noise and you’ll just hear bird song and bull frogs.”
Beaver dam is at the lake. Awesome place to have small walk. Geese, ducks, salamanders etc., to see by the lake.
Easy hike that will offer vastly different viewing experience depending on the season. Well hidden & it needs to stay that way!

Very good hike to do with family and friends. There is a long trail, and dogs are allowed as long as they are on a leash. Unfortunately, not all trails are dog-friendly. However in front of each trail, it spefically mentions which trails allow dogs. Some trails even lead to ponds, along with an excellent view.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
