Confirmed from Heardmont Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Great green space. Accessible creeks, walking paths and sports fields. Oak Mountain High School plays their football games here and it is a very good facility.

This is a lovely park with playground, trails (walking and biking), pickle ball courts, tennis courts, fields, and restrooms. There is a beautiful creek that winds through the park, with ample shaded picnic tables. I love coming here to eat lunch on a nice day or go for a walk or jog.

I visit Heardmont Park three times a week max. This is where the bootcamp I attend takes place. They have everything - pickleball and tennis courts, soccer fields, asphalt walkways on which to run or walk, dog walkers, a gazebo, a football stadium along with a 400m track, a senior center with a garden the seniors…

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
