We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Henderson Heritage Preserve yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
This nature preserve for pine & oak trees has wetland areas plus shaded walking paths.
What runners say about Henderson Heritage Preserve
“From what I hiked for the short time I was there, I could this preserve is beautiful and very well maintained with wide open trails to follow.”
“This place is wonderful for those moments when you need some quiet time.”
It was nice. The first half mile of so was pretty good. There were 6 to 9 beaver dams that were pretty neat to see. The rest of the walk was kinda boring. Possibly some red cokaded wood peckers in the area.
This is a nature preserve, it has a long walking trail through the woods. The trail isn't level, wear hiking shoes, bring water, bug repellant, and tissue paper. Not recommended for small kids or the elderly. You will be up close to nature and it's habitats.
From what I hiked for the short time I was there, I could this preserve is beautiful and very well maintained with wide open trails to follow. What makes this a great place also is that it is an archery only hunting preserve with plenty of wildlife resources.
Great little hike! Trails are well marked if you pay attention. A few trees are down from the beavers but you can easily navigate around them
