We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Hitchcock Woods yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Love riding in the woods! Great trails that I can ride for hours on end. Love that there's a nice stream where the horses can splash around and get a drink from too.

Beautiful park with PLENTY of hiking trails. Lots of flora and fauna too. These incredible horses were also a lovely surprise! I arrived early in the morning on a Thursday and there were no other visitors while I was there.

★★★★★ — Charity , Mar 2023

Hitchcock woods offered an unforgettable day! The trails were absolutely beautiful, and well maintained. We covered 13 miles of winding paths, open stretches, and peaceful forest scenery. A perfect ride that reminds you exactly why you love being in the saddle. Thanks for keeping it so well maintained for all!

I have frequented the Woods for quite a while now and just wanted to say "thanks" to all of the donors, employees, trustees, etc. who keep this beautiful place so pristine, natural and accessible! I have gone on many long walks in the Woods with my mother and I have to say it's just so peaceful and magical!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
