Confirmed from Hidden Valley Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
This expansive tract of wildland open space features multi-use paths & a sports field.
What runners say about Hidden Valley Park
“Well maintained and far enough off the road that you can only hear traffic once on the loop.”
“Was in town for work and stumbled on this beautiful hike.”
“The main 3-mile loop was easy to follow and very enjoyable.”
It's a beautiful place. I hiked three miles. The address is 6400 NE Russell Rd., Kansas City, MO 64117. The searched address on North Bellaire is incorrect.
Hidden Valley Park is home to one of our favorite Kansas City trail systems! The terrain is smooth, but undulating with lots of elevation change. It’s a great spot for mountain biking, hiking, trail running, foraging for edibles and finding peace in the company of some really big, really old trees.
This is a beautiful park with many options. Near the parking, you will find an open field with paved walking trail and frisbee golf. Picnic area, porta-potty, and play area. This large field is great for flying kites or enjoying the fresh air. Wintertime, this is a go to sledding area.
A great 3 mile loop natural escape within the city! I took my dogs and they enjoyed the terrain. It wasn't too hard for any of us. Beautiful scenery to take in throughout the trail. Came across a garter snake sunning itself on the trail, so keep an eye out for where you step.
Trail conditions & character
“Decent little mountain bike trail system, with a fairly easy 3-mile loop, and a couple, more difficult, off-shoots we didn’t try.”
“Was in town for work and stumbled on this beautiful hike.”
“It has a nice walking trail across rolling Green hills, a playground for the kids, lots of room to run for both 2 and 4 legged kiddos, and restrooms.”
“The park itself has a nice parking lot, a picnic shelter, a port-a-pottie, a few playground items, and just acres of hilly grass.”
“There are paved paths around the park, disc golf, and to the South, a MTB trail that was very enjoyable.”
“And right across the road is a large wooded area for the hiking enthusiasts.”
“It has a nice walking trail across rolling Green hills, a playground for the kids, lots of room to run for both 2 and 4 legged kiddos, and restrooms.”
“On a busy day, you may find mountain bikes, possibly a horse rider or two, forager’s, and dog lovers on the trail.”
“Really great walking loop (main trail is a three mile dirt trail).”
