Confirmed from Honey Run Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Honey Run Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (14 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

This 3+ mile section is a great little trail. You can start from either end. Elevation changes aren't terribly different going either direction so I choose to start on the end on the paved road vs traveling on gravel.

★★★★★ — Hugh , Jul 2020

Left a review for the lower loops but this TH is the start of the "downhill" section that connects to the other trails down below. Again, very well maintained and flowy. Such a great trail even if hiked. Many beautiful open fields (vegetation is not too dense), mossy paths, tall grass, water crossings, and more.

★★★★★ — Raymon , Oct 2019

This is a wonderful small trail, three miles or more. You may begin at either end. Since there aren't many elevation changes in either way, I prefer to start on the paved road at the end rather than the dirt one. Nothing was too much for this 48-year-old rookie with a subpar hardtail bike and inadequate training.

★★★★★ — Robert , Feb 2024

If you are a mountain biker, this trail is quite a workout. Alot of fun, but if you get tired walking up 4 flights of stairs, then find a beginner trail instead. There is a bathroom nearby at the Coakley Hollow Trail, as long as the visitor center is open BRING PLENTY OF WATER, AND SNACKS, ECT...BUG SPRAY FOR SURE!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
