Confirmed from Horseshoe Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“Beautiful park located in the south side of Grapevine Lake.”

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“Easy trail for all to enjoy as well as a wide dirt path for runners/easiest strolls that goes through the entire place.”

My dog Rocky & I love taking walks on this trail. It's clean & not too crowded. People are safe & social distancing.

I love this trail. It is just very broken up, but each trail has it's unique characteristics. This one has easier climbs and shallow descends so great beginner intermediate training if you are a mountain biker. Trail runners have plenty of variety as well. Walkers get plenty of distance off the trails on the concrete.

★★★★☆ — Antoniette , Mar 2019

Beautiful park located in the south side of Grapevine Lake. There are several trails running for bikes and hikers. We walked the trails for about 5 miles and it was great as we encountered small hills and irregular ground covered by trees. Free parking available on site.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Horseshoe Trail

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
