Confirmed from Hudson Highland Gateway Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Historic 352-acre park offering hiking, birding, cross-country skiing, fishing & snowshoeing.
What runners say about Hudson Highland Gateway Park
“Beautiful and relatively easy hike - you can see the nearby street from most of it though this is often the case on smaller hiking trails.”
“Very well marked trail system, lots of ups & downs, some rock scrambles make trails interesting.”
Hiked the full loop trail blue to yellow to white to blue to red to blue blazes. Amazing hike - moderate to sometimes difficult climbs. Streams running through the red blaze.
Very well marked trail system, lots of ups & downs, some rock scrambles make trails interesting. Scenic overlook where during the Revolutionary War, signal fires were lit to send messages to the troops up & down Hudson River. Only downfall is the road noise on the west side of park, takes away from being out in nature.
Great hiking system. Beautiful area trails are well maintained and marked clearly. Great hike with the dogs along the red and blue trails!
Beautiful Park with good and easy to hike trails. Even on hot summer days you can enjoy a hike since it's all in the shade of the forest.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
