Confirmed from Hurd Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Hurd Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (319 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 16 mentions

“Stunning when they bloom late spring (from my experience, a few weeks after the newark blooms).”

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“For that reason alone, the park has become extremely popular for people of all ages.”

A community park with a large field. A brook with a narrow branch run through the middle. In springtime, when flowers blossom, it is really pretty. Some benches and a picnic table. Dog friendly. No toilet, no playground and no bbq facilities thought. For half an hour easy walk or family picnic.

★★★★☆ — Janming , Apr 2021

Has always been one of the prettiest parks in the area. I do wish they had more walking paths.

★★★★★ — Claudia , Sep 2023

If you've ever wanted to take a super relaxing walk at a park (especially with your partner!), Hurd Park is the place to do it. This park is a beautiful place to hang out, and even more beautiful to take your prom date! The luscious greenery and rivers make this place super fun to take kids to, as well.

Cherry blossoms in a quaint little township park. Stunning when they bloom late spring (from my experience, a few weeks after the newark blooms). Parking is limited and off the north side of the park on a gravel little lot, which oddly is connected to someone’s private dead end driveway.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
