Confirmed from Hedden Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Hedden Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (1,106 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 6 mentions

“Lots of parking areas and just a quiet enjoyable place unless a baseball game is going on in their very clean and large field area.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 13 mentions

“It has some very scenic views overlooking the lake and an extensive hiking trail with varying degrees of difficulty.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 7 mentions

“We will continue to visit this serene park, with great hiking places, water streams, and a playground for kids, teenagers, and casual walkers.”

We have been to Hedden Park twice (fall and winter) and we love its serenity and beauty. There is ample parking space outside the park. It has a large lake, a pretty stream and multiple walking trails. Picnic benches and grills are available for the summer months.

Been coming here for years and it’s wonderful during any season! Usually pretty quiet, especially if you go on the trails in the woods. The river is super nice to walk along and hop rock to rock. If you go up to the top of the river, there’s a big rock you can sit and contemplate life on.

Historic Hedden Park has always been one of my favorites! I grew up on a street that was walking distance for 22 years of my young life. I could take Reservoir Ave or walk through the woods and find the trails to get to the main park.

What a beautiful place! Nice area to take a walk and surround yourself with nature. I saw a snake and lots of butterflies. There’s also lots of places to bbq. Unfortunately, what should have been a quiet walk in the woods was quite the opposite.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 21 mentions

“It does have some nice trails to walk along, and the stream that comes down the mountain is nice to sit by and listen to the waterfall when the water is high.”

Plan your run at Hedden Park

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
