Confirmed from Hyatt Hidden Lakes Reserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
This 44-acre preserve for bats, birds & other animals offers trails, overlooks & public art.
What runners say about Hyatt Hidden Lakes Reserve
“Having the marsh and ponds around the path make this one have some shade here and there, as well as so many beautiful plants and animals.”
“One moment you’re aware of roads, schedules, noise; the next, you’re surrounded by water, reeds, and the quiet understanding that nothing urgent is happening here.”
Boise has more than 90 developed parks. Last week I visited Hyatt Hidden Lakes Reserve. It’s a 53 acre park that serves as a sanctuary for birds, bats, and animals. If I had known about the bats, I would’ve visited sooner. This park has stocked ponds and fishing. I was there for almost 2 hours.
A quiet neighborhood nature preserve. A perfect place to watch birds. Quiet and undisturbed walks with camera suggested. My favorite neighborhood park.
One of my favorite walks to hit in town. While I love my dog, it's so nice to have this wild animal refuge. Lots of wildlife to see, baby geese in spring, muskrats, turtles... it's a very pretty spot. Please don't ruin it! 😜
This was a short but busy little hiking area. I went on a Wednesday morning and the parking lot was empty but I saw quite a few people while out. The trail is an easy one, with options to go a shorter or longer route.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
