We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Indian Head Trail yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Indian Head Trail
I love this hike. The wildlife is great for the area. A family of great horned owls live here. Also... watch out for rattlesnakes.
I lovely little pocket of nature. There are some really stunning hidden gems in here. Docking a star for poorly marked trails. Or non-existent trails that the map says it has more like. The trail I was on was wide and clear, but there was really only the one path, not the many the maps say there are.
I can't say much about the hiking as I was there to clean up and trim the trees on one particular trail. I can say that the trail I was on was well marked, wide, and clean. Everyone I encountered while working on the trail all week was very kind and considerate. I plan to come back here to actually hike sometime soon.
The trail is short, but it offers beautiful ocean views. Once we reached the highest point we were lucky enough to be at eye level and very close to a hawk which was hunting for food at the time. I recommend taking the easier one. The more difficult one was very challenging at times.
Trail conditions & character
“The views are decently surprising considering the trail isn't right on coastal.”
