Confirmed from Indian Ladder Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
State park with scenic views featuring marked trails and picnic areas.
What runners say about Indian Ladder Trail
“Visited center most helpful staff (recommended looping around) and clean bathrooms.”
“It conveniently starts almost next to the visitor center and rewards with beautiful views both along the base of limestone cliffs and from the cliff-top path.”
“The path takes abput 30 min to hike and is also clearly marked so its hard to get lost.”
“It was a pretty easy hike, but there were lots of stairs.”
The Indian Ladder Trail is the Albany area's best hike! The views from the top of escarpment are phenomenal. The trail has well built staircases and rails to protect against a serious fall from the ledges that are a part of the trail. As you walk along you will notice many unique rock formations.
Went here yesterday with my sister and it's a GREAT trail for beginners to hike. The inclines and declines aren't that bad, for the most part it feels like just walking along a regular road. The path takes abput 30 min to hike and is also clearly marked so its hard to get lost.
Indian ladder trail was gorgeous. Definitely recommend for the views and waterfalls. Very easy trail to do. Can be a bit slippery and muddy which can add difficulty. Dog friendly! Just has to be leashed. Decently busy too so will see other people. The waterfalls are gorgeous and rock formations.
Absolutely amazing hiking trail! Great views, rock formations and waterfalls. One of the best in NY state.
