Confirmed from Ira B. Melton Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Rustic, wooded park offering mountain biking & walking trails with a variety of terrain.
What runners say about Ira B. Melton Park
“We had a great walk here, and it was short but beautiful!”
“Loved it here peaceful and beautiful scenery!”
Nice paved trail in North Druid Hills. There’s no parking here, so go to Mason Mills Park (5 minute drive away) and walk here.
This is a nature hiking trail area. There are no restrooms, playground, or picnic area. Very peaceful, narrow dirt pathways. I have pushed both four wheel and three wheel baby buggies on the path, but it can be a bit difficult at times with the tree roots and rocks.
The only thing I could say about the trail is that the address given to me was not to the direct location where there's parking. Dont use the Desmond address it's a residential property. Use the 1400 McConnell Dr.
This is a rustic park that is accessed from Desmond Drive. There are photos posted of the nearby Mason Mill park on this site. There is no parking lot, street/side street parking is available. There is a sign at the trail head. Trails are marked with colored bars in the trees.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
