Confirmed from Lullwater Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Easy scenic walk. We're elderly and had no trouble walking the two miles around the lake as well as down some of the side trails. Beautiful nature area in the heart of the city, on the Emory campus.

It was truly a pleasant surprise for me and my wife during our present stay in Atlanta, when our daughter and son-in-law took us around this stunningly beautiful area ... a heaven for nature's lovers. We couldn't believe we were in the middle of the city within the Emory University area.

I absolutely love the Water Preserve! I visited it for the running trail while training, and the views are absolutely breathtaking. The scenery makes every step feel worth it, and it's such a peaceful spot to run or walk.

★★★★★ — Brittany , Mar 2025

This place is a lovely walking spot. Great for walking/running routines. There’s a small water fall that adds to the aura of the preserve. I recommend coming here for little hikes, photography, picnics, even study sessions. It’s a wonderful environment.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

“Only gripe is the parking situation which is nonexistent, you're on your own and it's not very clear where you're allowed to park on Emory's campus and where you aren't.”
