Confirmed from Iron Mountain Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Forest reserve with hiking paths plus a playground and a pond for wildlife.
What runners say about Iron Mountain Park
“The kids loved the play area near the trailhead, and we were all impressed by the clean, beautiful bathrooms - what a gift on a hike!”
“Gorgeous view at the top, and though I missed it, some in our group spotted deer and a couple of fawns!”
“Very peaceful and a few different points of entry/exit for tying in on neighborhood runs or walks.”
A nice city park with picnic tables, a children's play area and covered area. There are good flushing toilet facilities as well. The area is a former mining location from the late 1800s. There are several trails with moderate elevation gain.
First time visiting this place. Was pleasantly surprised. It was a nice little hike, not strenuous, or too short of a trail like I was expecting. Great trail for walking dogs as well.
Iron City Mountain Park was a short and sweet adventure! Our youngest hikers (ages 2 and 4) did great—even with a few shoulder rides from the adults. The weather was perfect, and most of the trail is nicely shaded. Gorgeous view at the top, and though I missed it, some in our group spotted deer and a couple of fawns!
Very clean and well kept park. The kids are looked very clean. My husky and I had a great time on the hiking trails. We will definitely be going back sometime soon.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceCrushed gravel — the rail-trail classic: softer than asphalt, still smooth enough for tempo work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
