Confirmed from Jacksonville Arboretum & Botanical Gardens' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
This 120 acre arboretum provides rustic trails through the woods & labelled plant life.

“I visited the Jacksonville Arboretum & Botanical Gardens not really knowing what to expect, and it turned out to be a quiet, refreshing place to spend a few hours.”
The $20 ticket for holiday lights is worth it! Really fun. They sell s’mores kits, beer and wine. There are two food trucks. Santa for kids!! Parking will be easier if you arrive close to 5:30. You can use night ticket to come during day and get free entry for day. It’s $3 daytime and a lot of pretty hikes.
If this is on your bucket list, you need to head over and get it checked off. This is a well kept hidden gem in Jacksonville. We purchased tickets ahead of time and checked in quickly with the front staff at the entrance to the trails. There is a good mix of paved and rugged trails.
We visited at night for the glowing gardens event and it was beautiful. The lights were very well done and they had light up playground equipment for kids. It wasn't very well run though. Parking was a mess and we had to park a good half mile away and walk to the event in the complete dark. Plus it cost $12.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
