Confirmed from Jennings Beach's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Wide, sandy stretch on the Long Island Sound with a lifeguard, snack bar, showers & restrooms.
What runners say about Jennings Beach
“There wasn’t a lot of people there the beach is huge , the sand was clean, I found a lot of seashells both large and small, ( also beautiful rocks!”
“We used to make fun of how bad this beach was, but after growing up I’ve learned to appreciate it and understand that it’s actually really beautiful and a great beach for the area.”
“The atmosphere was calm, families were enjoying themselves, and the whole place had a peaceful, welcoming vibe.”
Decided to go someplace different with our dog and was pleasantly surprised at how nice this Beach is. Dogs are not allowed on during the summer months, only off-season and apparently they are one of the only beaches in Connecticut that allow off leash.
Clean, peaceful cool water beach. At first there is a lot of shelves and small rocks yet once you walk in there is very Soft sand underneath the waters Not 5 start due to -Entrance is pricy for my taste. $50.000 per car in the weekend.
Beautiful beach to walk on and bask in the sun. Lots of space and plenty of parking. I'd imagine it would get quite busy on the weekends. But weekdays are nice and quiet. Plenty of grills and picnic tables as well if you feel like having a BBQ.
I found this eminently jog walkable along for beach front with a nice boardwalk. It was more accessible than cloistered St Mary's by the Sea with it's unclear even tense parking situation.
