Confirmed from John McCants Veterans Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Dog-friendly play area featuring a playground, picnic benches, slides, restrooms and a pavilion.

Park has changed to John McCants Veterans Park. The city has done a great job upgrading it! The playground is top notch (all though the kids noticed, there's no swings). Has a dog park that is very nice. A few pavilions and walking trails on both sides of the street.
It seems to be a fairly new park with pavilions, a children's area, dog park and walking trails. What is surprising is the walking paths are lighted.
Fairly new neighborhood park. It’s nice and well maintained. Good walking trails and covered picnic structures. I always feel safe when there. Mostly families in the kids areas and dog park. They have a great dog park. I go there quite often with mine.
Loved it! Total much needed Reno. Covered open shelter for gatherings, bathrooms available, really nice new playground for kids, plenty of parking, and great sidewalk for walking or jogging. Awesome tribute to all military in honor of fallen Marine.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
