Confirmed from Kansas Historical Society Nature Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Kansas Historical Society Nature Trail
“Wonderful secure trails and very well maintained.”
“Beautiful trails going through typical Kansas natural settings (tallgrass prairie, woodland streams, etc.”
Absolutely awesome!!! Beautiful trails going through typical Kansas natural settings (tallgrass prairie, woodland streams, etc.) along with some nice informational tablets. The big problem here is trying to figure out where the trails are, especially the North Trail.
Wonderful secure trails and very well maintained. The maintenance team has done a fantastic job getting the trails ready for this years patrons.
Love walking on the trails here. Sometimes I get lost though, so it might be nice to have a few more signs designating the official path.
Nice trail however watch out for ticks this time of year on the trail. Easy walk, area was well kept

“For the most part, they're marked out with woodchips but with some sections in the woods, the woodchips peter out, then it's a blind guess about where to go.”

The practical stuff

- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- Loop distance25 mi back to where you parked. Long enough for a real long run.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
