Confirmed from MacLennan Park Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiker, biker and fisherman-friendly space, with paths and woodlands.
What runners say about MacLennan Park Trail
“They are kept very clean, fallen trees and branches are moved promptly.”
“It’s so beautiful and it would take quite awhile to walk every trail.”
“A great place for a quiet walk or to introduce your kiddos to the outdoors or support your growing photography hobby.”
I come here for a breath of fresh air and relaxation. There are wide side walk paths to walk your on leash dog, and fishing docks. Be aware that there are active coyotes in the area.
Great trails in Topeka for hiking, running, and biking. A nice mix of technical trails and groomed (a little pavement and some crushed limestone) trails. Some of the trails have nice elevation gain and offer some good hill workouts for this area.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceCrushed gravel — the rail-trail classic: softer than asphalt, still smooth enough for tempo work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
