Confirmed from Keepataw Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Nature preserve offering kid-friendly hikes, a grass loop trail, and an overlook.
What runners say about Keepataw Preserve
“It was a nice day to place is nice and clean not crowded enjoyed myself”
“Although the walking trail is very short, the views from overlook are beautiful.”
“Great spot to pull up and eat lunch with a decent view and quiet atmosphere.”
Nice hidden gem. If you want to see the lime kiln, I'd recommend parking up the road at Black Partridge Woods and taking the Veterans Trail. There's no path down the hill from the Keepataw lot.
Nice trails. There's a small grass loop trail and then there is another trail that leads towards the boundary of the preserve. We followed along that trail and it led us to the structure. If you keep heading out it'll lead you to another trail that goes along the des plains River.
Although the walking trail is very short, the views from overlook are beautiful.
Very cute path, pretty short, has a nice overlook-- you can see the highway and hear the noise, so be aware of that. There is also a steep hill that could be challenging to some. Great small trail with barely any people, even on weekends.
