Confirmed from Lemont Township Heritage Woodland Sanctuary's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Lemont Township Heritage Woodland Sanctuary
Nice place to take a short walk/hike on paved and unpaved trails. Dog park is nearby and some people do not leash their dogs here on the paths so beware if you have a leash reactive dog.
Great place to walk, paths are kept up perfectly just wish it didn't butt up to Copper Ridge subdivision. While walking I encountered a deer that became startled and was stuck between me and the open street of the division. Poor guy didn’t know what to do. Finally he made his way back into the woods
True Prarie wildlife. Step back in time. Wonderful paths that ice over in the winter, so be careful. My dog Boozer loves it. Nice spacing for dog doo bags also.
Very nice trails, but paved and natural. Several different ecosystems to explore

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
