Confirmed from Kennard Nature Nook's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Kennard Nature Nook
“This area has a large parking lot, restrooms, and is a nature preserve that has well maintained trails and access to the creek.”
“This is a beautiful spot for an easy walk in the woods.”
A beautiful, wooded location with a creek. Several, well maintained trails with change in elevation uncommon at many of the parks in and around Dayton. The longest out and back takes about 40 minutes at a brisk walk but you could easily spend two hours by taking the other loops as well. Perfect for dogs and kids!
Nice place to start. A lot of wild flowers. Trail starts along water. A couple of areas where you can actually get to the water. When the water is low its a nice place to look for fossils. If you keep at the trails it connects to a main trail system. Goes up a hillside. Lots of trees and plants to see.
A fun hike, you can make it as short or as long as you would like. It connects to Grant Park. I would say this is a moderate hike but still doable for kids. I carried my baby in her carrier for the 2.5 miles I did today.
Kennard Nature Nook was reserved in advance by family for a baby shower. It was a beautiful location. Enjoyed it so much, we plan on holding a catered Celebration of Life in August for our family members, recently passed.
