Confirmed from Kingston Point Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Kingston Point Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (477 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“The old metal gate is straight from a spooky halloween or horror movie but what lies beyond it is really gorgeous.”

Lovely park. There's a large area to bring dogs. It has a short 9 hole disc golf course that wraps around the park. It has both open and wooded holes. Definitely for beginners, but a lot of fun nonetheless. There is also a rail trail attached that has beautiful views across the water to Rhinebeck.

Nice little beach on the Hudson. A picnic shelter & bathhouse are at the parking lot. There's a ballpark across the street & more picnicking close by with a covered shelter & lots of tables & benches...a lot of benches.

The park is situated on the hudson river and the trail follows a abandoned railroad. I guess it was uses in the 1850 when Kingston was the capital of NY. It’s a great trail for the dogs for a good walk. Was able to meet a lot of dog friendly people on the trial. You also have an option of going to a dog park.

Parts look a little rough but this place is a gem. The old metal gate is straight from a spooky halloween or horror movie but what lies beyond it is really gorgeous. There are rock outcroppings, bridges, river side paths and plenty of paths through the woods.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
