Confirmed from Kitchawan Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Nature preserve offering trails and scenery for hiking, dog walking, and exploring old ruins.
What runners say about Kitchawan Preserve
“A very cute place to spend time with your family, the trails are very clean and full of happy dogs, the dogs were running freely without a leash but that didn’t bother us.”
“Really cool Footbridge beautiful trails and if you had down 129 another half mile you can make a left at the bend and go over an Old Red Bridge and take the Croton Aqueduct Road.”
“Plenty of places to sit by the calm lake.”
Lovely tree lined dirt paths. Plenty of places to sit by the calm lake. Friendly locals with their friendly dog. Great place for an easy hike all year round.
I enjoy coming here for the great trails, scenic views, and refreshing air. I usually bring my dog here and the only drawback are the (usually untrained) dogs off leash straight from the parking lot.
Beautiful trails with varying degrees of difficulty from beginners to intermediate. Excellent hiking with dogs, easy to park and good access to bridges. Clearly marked trails.
Long trails, very quiet and nice. Surprisingly mostly clean very very little garbage as this place is carry in and carry out. Friendly people walking by or with dogs usually unleashed and though it may not be a problem for me, I know others may not like that. Very quiet once you're alone and no people pass by.

The practical stuff
