Confirmed from Teatown Lake Reservation's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“We took the lake trail for an easy walk and it does not disappoint.”

What a beautiful, well kept reservation. You have options for trails. I took the blue trail so I could stay close to the lake (love a water view), and as a geocacher, there were said to be 2 along this trail. Don’t just walk on the trails, take a moment to actually explore and see all it offers..

Beautiful and easy trail around the lake to do with family. There are a lot of benches to enjoy a peaceful morning and evening. Early in the morning you might see some active wildlife around you. The blue trail is 2 miles long. There are pay and park machines installed in the two parking lots.

This is a most excellent reservation with visitor center, well marked trails, a mini farm zoo for kids, a fenced off area with a wild flower garden, three lakes and beautiful scenery. Parking is paid. Pets on leash. The trail around the main lake is easy.

★★★★★ — Eduardo , May 2025

We visited Teatown Lake Reservation in the fall, and the weather was perfect for a hike. The trails are well-maintained with visible markings, making it easy to navigate. The information center is clean, and the restrooms were well-kept. Parking for non-members is $7 for the whole day, which is very convenient.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Teatown Lake Reservation

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
