Confirmed from Lake Apopka's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Family-friendly park featuring fishing from a boardwalk, playgrounds and hiking trails, as well as views of Lake Apopka.
What runners say about Lake Apopka
“Hopefully the town can continue to clean it and improve the quality of the water.”
“Absolutely beautiful sunsets but you will want to bring your mosquito protection.”
For some reason there is a separate listing for the Lake Apopka Loop Trail. This is also known as the Magnolia Park Trailhead (that park is across the street and I didn't go over there). You'll find more reviews if you search for that. I'll leave my review on both.
One of my fav places in all of Florida. Never fail to see gators of many sizes, tons of wading birds, tons of turtles and various varmints scurrying round the trail edges. Open a bit rugged bring a hat sunscreen, water etc. I biked 20 miles round trip today.
Beautiful little park with access to the lake! The children's playground is always bustling! They have nice benches that front up close to the water and a walking trail with great wildlife views.
The park is well appointed and clean. Easily accessible and well maintained boat ramp. Absolutely beautiful sunsets but you will want to bring your mosquito protection. Situated just south of a driving trail that is excellent for bird and wildlife watching.

“The first half mile or so is paved but becomes hard packed gravel once it leaves the road.”

Plan your run at Lake Apopka
The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
