Confirmed from Lincoln Trail Homestead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

This is a small state park with a huge historical significance - the first home of Abraham Lincoln in Illinois. It was neglected for decades, but is being enthusiastically rejuvenated in the last five years, with canoe access to the Sangamon River, a new restroom facility, good playground equipment, picnic facilities,…

Toke grandkids out to explore. It was a beautiful day day and was fun. Lots if trees and could walk down to the river it was so low.

★★★★★ — Denise , Nov 2020

Has a river access/“beach” area just south of the park as well. Love the fact that there are car sized trail paths to walk/hike. Makes it much more enjoyable for my family. Hey park maintence guys/girls, thank you for what you do out there.

★★★★★ — Buckie , Aug 2023

You can actually hike here, there are some short trails on the west side of the park. Stop at the main shelter bulletin board to take a picture of the trail map. Nice short trails along the river, mostly flat.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
