Confirmed from Linda Vista Loop Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Saguaro, barrel, and other cacti grow along this hiking loop with scenic mountain views.
What runners say about Linda Vista Loop Trail
“I wish the paths were marked a little better but the actual trail is well maintained and clearly visible.”
“There was a great view that was well worth the trek.”
A fantastic gem to check out for a pleasant hike. This trail is less popular than the nearby State Park, and mainly used by the locals, which makes it ideal for a calm outing. There is a fair bit of climb and descend, so be prepared for it.
Nice views from the top if you can manage the steep climb. Desert wildlife and flora is abundant. There’s an easier trail loop, about 3 miles long, and a direct path which cuts across going up the mountain. Entrance is right behind the tennis courts of the Hilton resort.
Linda Vista has all the great views. Our first hike during this vacation at Honey Bee Canyon Park had a few difficulties that we didn’t anticipate, so we made sure to plan for this hike a little better. It helped that Emily had been here before and knew the area from previous hikes here.
If you’re visiting Tucson and you want to HIKE - you must hike on this Trail. You’ll need to leave any doggies at home. The vertical climb is pretty challenging (steep steps on the rocks) and if you’re not sure-footed - this is likely NOT a good choice. The descent can be a bit tricky as well.
Trail conditions & character
“Great vista views along upper half of trail looking down at Tucson/Oro Valley.”
“The vertical climb is pretty challenging (steep steps on the rocks) and if you’re not sure-footed - this is likely NOT a good choice.”
“The prior hike was mostly flat, so, it was nice that the loop that we took was mostly going up and down with some switchbacks here and there.”
“We found an easy-to-access parking lot and were able to immediately hop on a trail and start hiking.”
“The trail has some elevation gain, and is rocky and rough in some places.”

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
