We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Lower Fire Trail Trailhead yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Lower Fire Trail Trailhead
“Great experience The View is incredible, we took our dogs and they can be off leash, most people are very friendly I really recommend it the place is Beautiful.”
Great hike in the Berkeley hills. Easy and not strenuous. But you get the feeling you’re in the woods even though you’re actually close to civilization. Less than two miles to the halfway lookout point. Then another two to the end.
The fire trails are a great place to hike by yourself, with pets, or friends. Pack food and water and go to the bathroom before hand as there are no restrooms or water fountains. The whole fire trail is about 7 miles there and back.
Limited parking so try to get there earlier. Excellent fire road for a run or stroll. Dogs allowed off-leash which is great, there a couple streams near the parking for them to drink.
Pretty nice for an easily accessible in-town trail. Large Bay and Oak trees provide shade and fragrance on a warm summer day. Very birdy.
