Confirmed from Mackenzie Natural Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Mackenzie Natural Area
“Beautiful ponderosa pine area with surprising pockets of more moist loving plants and trees.”
“Nice, quiet hike with many inclines and some views of the lake.”
Beautiful area! Will have to come back and explore more. Not a lot of people, great place to take dogs although you need an extra pair if shoes to wear into your vehicle once done hiking because there is A LOT of dog poop, we pick up after our dogs but it seems a lot of people don't there.
For years this was the place you went to enjoy your hike with your dogs off the leash. It’s becoming more popular with bikes and non locals. Technically it is still an area where you are required to keep your dog on a leash, But most people don’t seem to mind as long as your dog is well behaved.
Nice, quiet hike with many inclines and some views of the lake. Nothing singularly spectacular, but not as frequented as the nearby trails at Liberty Lake Regional Park.
The Mac nature reserve is perfect. Great trails, great views. I take my photography clients out there a few times a month. Don’t miss the spring bloom.
