Confirmed from MADD Shelter's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park with multiple loops of varying difficulty for hiking and mountain biking.
What runners say about MADD Shelter
“The trail is clean, well marked & surrounded by scenic nature.”
“Flower Mound is beautiful and has great trail systems for mountain biking and hiking in or near its city limits.”
“Bike repair station, well shaded on the trails and well marked signage.”
“It’s beginner friendly not too challenging for regular or seasonal hikers but still a great way to enjoy the outdoors.”
This is a great trail designed by D.O.R.B.A, that is mainly for mountain biking, but is also good for hiking too. There are a lot of bicycle riders here, so I would suggest taking the wrong way sign at the trailhead. This will allow you to see riders coming from the front and not from behind.
Hiking tracks are common for walkers and mountain bikers. So the walkers have to be very careful. Otherwise there are plenty of chances of meeting accidents. The paths are not wide enough and are up and down. Since the bikes also move the track becomes very dusty and those having dust allergy will not relish.
Great place to park to go to the back technical sections or ride the whole loop. All the mad shelter really is, is a couple picnic tables under an awning, but they have a bike wash station and the trail is right there next to the parking lot.
Northshore Trail, Flower Mound TX. Full pull is about 20 miles. Challenge to do MADD Shelter to Rockledge loop sub-60! Maintained by DORBA
