Confirmed from Mary Carter Greenway Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Mary Carter Greenway Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (11 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Beautiful river trail with trails on both sides.”

The Mary Carter Greenway Trail is the absolute splendor of the Denver metro trail system. It is a major hub of interconnecting trails throughout the entire downtown and South metro areas mainly connecting the South Platte River trail from Denver to the C-470 bikeway in Littleton and other points further South and West.

★★★★★ — Christian , Aug 2018

Take a stroll along the beautiful Platte River. The greenery stretches from C470 to downtown Denver, winding through the south metro area. There are plenty of spots to sit, relax, or have a picnic. Restrooms and play areas are conveniently located along the trail.

★★★★★ — Eddie , May 2025

Beautiful river trail with trails on both sides. The trail is wide with a parallel dirt path on the east side of the river. Great for biking, running, walking, or all of the above. Never too busy

★★★★★ — Elliott , Jan 2024

This is a wonderful trail in the winter and the summer! Very peaceful and you get away from some of the noise and bustle of Denver

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🛣️ Paved surface 2 mentions

“The entire trail is fully paved with smooth concrete and is mostly flat with no steep climbs.”
