Confirmed from Mass Audubon's Eagle Lake Wildlife Sanctuary's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Mass Audubon's Eagle Lake Wildlife Sanctuary

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (25 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🪧 well-marked 3 mentions

“Very nice, well marked (mostly) trail with some rolling hills.”

I enjoyed a nice Saturday evening hike for my side goal of hitting all open to the public Mass Audubon sites. This location marks #27 of 64. I parked at the trailhead off Causeway Street, then walked the eastern side of Appleton Loop, on the “municipal pipeline”, then the eastern side of the Asnebumskit Loop then back…

Very secluded. Shady and cool. Wear a jacket if not hot out. Only saw two other people while doing the whole 3 mile loop.

★★★★★ — Keith , Sep 2020

Great place for a hike. Clear trails and all marked good, adults and children will have a great tome, plus a beach on other side.

Lovely trail. . Quite. The trials are well marked . Great to spend a few hours. Nice big pond. Spotted pink lady slipper !

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🔁 Loop trail 8 mentions

“The full loop is also good for those who like to get some actual walking in (takes about 1 hr and 40 minutes without stopping).”
