Confirmed from Maston Trail System's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Sprawling area with over 50 miles of trails for mountain biking, hiking, horse riding and trail running.
What runners say about Maston Trail System
“The junipers are absolutely gorgeous here and after reading the info we found out some of the trees here are 1000 years old, so cool.”
“This is an accessible, well marked trail system that rides pretty moderate overall, with only a couple of technique spots for the more adventurous.”
Great trails! Mostly easy (green) hard packed sand with one or two blue trails due to more technical features. The outer loop is a little over 12 miles with about 600 ft of elevation gain. Mostly ridden in late fall or winter being desert terrain.
Exceptional early and late season mtb riding with limited climbing. There are a few technical challenges but nothing extreme. Nice large parking area with restrooms. The area isvusualy crowded so expect encounters with other riders, hikers, and dogs. Lots of the trails are quite easy so expect novices.
Trails are marked with numbers, check the map before you head out. Mostly flat trail riding, with rocks and mild hills. There is a technical section here and there including the gorge area. Hike and Bike trails are separate from horse trails. Please stay off the horse trails if your not a horse.
This is an accessible, well marked trail system that rides pretty moderate overall, with only a couple of technique spots for the more adventurous. It's easy to get in a quick loop, or if you want a longer ride to creatively figure right yourself around. Oh! The trail out on the canyon has epic views.
