Confirmed from Matthies Memorial Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Relaxed, secluded spot featuring a playground for kids, ponds and a lake.
What runners say about Matthies Memorial Park
“Nice play scape for kids and a clean well kept porta-potty.”
“This is a beautiful place with a little playground and a house in the center of a pond on a little island.”
Still the wonderful hidden gems that locals adore! Been going there since 1999 and the magic of this calm oasis gets me every time. Perfect for alone time, family fun, romantic dates, fishing, picnics and more! Trails to explore. A playground for the kids.
The sign says only for beacon falls residents. I think that's a shame because there is some interesting history here. E.g. if i remember correctly, the old concrete corridors you will see were used to transport ice blocks. Probably before refrigerators became common. There is a Porto potty and a playground.
I’ve been visiting the park most of my life, it’s a hidden gem of Beacon Falls. Fun fishing for kids and a nice place to walk the dog. Unfortunately like so many other parks of this era it’s on a slow decay probably from lack of funds. I miss the days when the upper areas were filled with water.
I grew up right near this park been going for years it’s very peaceful you can hike around the lake but watch out for ticks

- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
