Confirmed from May Valley Loop Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Kid- and dog-friendly hiking area featuring scenic trails through the woods.
What runners say about May Valley Loop Trailhead
“There are no grand panoramic views and no scenic overlooks but the beauty is in the forest and the quiet solitude.”
“For beginner "hikers" like myself and my husband, these nature trails made us feel like we knew where we were going (because the paths were very clear and easy to follow).”
“This quiet, little-used trail wanders through a lowland forest and up the South side of Squak Mountain along Bullitt Creek.”
Another weekend and we did the otherside of Squak Mountain trails, this trail called as " Squak Mountain May valley Loop trail" which is on South side of the trail. This quiet, little-used trail wanders through a lowland forest and up the South side of Squak Mountain along Bullitt Creek.
Beautiful!! For beginner "hikers" like myself and my husband, these nature trails made us feel like we knew where we were going (because the paths were very clear and easy to follow).
First, the hike is nice and beautiful, not too hard. However we had to drive here and the directions showed directly the trailhead, not the parking lot, and so we had to take a bit of a detour to get back to the parking lot, since the trailhead is on a private road, open to park employees only.
This is a great forested trail. Not being from this area I wanted to try a different nearby hike today but it was so busy right from the overcrowded parking lot that I left and came back to this place that I had placed earlier. I am glad that I did.
Trail conditions & character

“Could definitely use clearer marking from the parking area into the longer segments.”
“It is a state park so you need a discover pass, but there is a small, flat story trail that's maybe a third of a mile loop with little bits of a children's story throughout.”
“The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible year-round Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.”
“Kids love it and then there are a couple additional, more difficult hikes, with more incline, etc.”
