Confirmed from Poo Poo Point Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Scenic mound & gateway to the Chirico Trail, popular for paragliding & vistas of wooded peaks.
What runners say about Poo Poo Point Trailhead
“You can see the mount Rainier and it is beautiful on the top where it’s got plenty space and bench to look out and enjoy the achievement!”
Let’s be honest. Beginners should think twice before attempting this hike. While the distance itself is short, the elevation gain is no joke and can be challenging if you are new to hiking. We went during the last week of January, and the trail was slushy in several sections, which made the climb even more demanding.
Wow~~~ amazing day! 💝💝💝💝💝 For someone like me who doesn’t usually exercise much, this mountain trail was quite the challenge! Make sure to wear high-ankle hiking boots—they’ll save your ankles on the steep terrain.
This is one of the trails I would recommend to any friend or family as it’s not too hard and not too easy. The trail is wider than other moderate hikes, quite solid and steady. There are dogs that come along and enjoy the hikes . It’s about… 2-3 hour hike and today I saw people parasailing and it looked really fun!
This is a great hike, I would recommend starting in the dark before the sun rises. The views are beautiful and there is a picnic area on the top.
Trail conditions & character
“As for the views, they’re not jaw-dropping overall, but the view of Mount Rainier from the top is a definite highlight and worth the climb.”

“The parking is also limited so I recommend going on a weekday and not raining cause it definitely is slippery if you don’t have solid hiking shoes.”
“I brought both of my dogs, and together we spent about three hours hiking up and back down.”
“Mostly a lot of climbing and rocky terrain but not too long of a hike and shaded for the most part.”
