Confirmed from Maybury State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding & cross-country skiing, plus a working educational farm.
What runners say about Maybury State Park
“Trails seemed well maintained, except for the mountain bike trail towards the end (which is the beginning for hikers because we go in reverse).”
“It winds through beautiful mature woodlands on well-groomed dirt paths with gentle rolling hills that add just the right challenge without destroying your legs.”
“The tree canopy provides excellent shade — a lifesaver during summer runs — and the trail circles a scenic pond where you’ll often see birds and peaceful water views.”
“All are well marked with numbered posts throughout the park to mark junctions and progress!”

Maybury State Park is undoubtedly one of Michigan's most popular state parks, renowned for its well-maintained trails and scenic beauty. Our family of four recently experienced our first hike here on the West Loop Trail, and it was an unforgettable outing.
A vast state park with lots of bike and walking/running trails. I got lost and ran for 3 hrs. Make sure you pick a path, watch your surroundings or carry your phone for directions if all else fails. Watch for tree roots on paths and mosquito repellent is a must plus check yourself for ticks when you get home.
I love maybury state park. Lots of trails to walk, different ones, some paved and others not through the woods. It’s a great place to walk. Theres two little free libraries, a playground, lots of pavilions, cute little signs with the areas history are scattered through it also.
Absolutely wonderful state park! They have ALL the trails! Walking/running (paved) trails, hiking (dirt) trails, mountain bike trails (that you can hike in reverse and yield to bikes, but be careful!), and they even have horse trails (watch out for the poop).

“For easier or longer days, the 4+ mile paved trail is smooth, hilly enough to keep things interesting, and connects to regional paths if you want to tack on extra miles.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run

- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
