Confirmed from McCarty Ranch Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about McCarty Ranch Preserve

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (57 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 7 mentions

“Clean restrooms and showers are up front and available.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Beautiful open land, nice and quiet.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 7 mentions

“Quiet and peaceful I love taking a drive out here and sitting next to the water and enjoying the scenery.”

The best camping spot in the TriCounty area. Camping has a fee out here and you have to make reservations. The camping areas are quiet and fairly secluded, and there are Bathrooms and Showers. Several times a year large events are held out here, like the Halloween bonfire. And there are R.V.

Lovely spot. Flat dirt road around lake could drive around or use for hiking or biking. About 4 mile loop around lake is wide and open, several offshoots for trails - went off on one of those but turned into a mini river so turned around.

Beautiful open land, nice and quiet. Saw an alligator on the hiking trail!

This is supposed to be a backup water Preserve for the County of Saint Lucie but they're not using it yet so decided open to the public it is completely primitive no Park Rangers no nothing so be warned but it's two thousand acres of beautiful unspoiled wilderness with three huge Crystal Clear Lakes hop and with fish…

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
