We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of McDowell Creek Greenway yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about McDowell Creek Greenway
“Overall this is an outstanding urban trail - it is well marked, well kept, and well traveled.”
This greenway is a very spacious trail that has a lot of things to see during your walk from a nice pond with geese and a stork. The trail is clean and well maintained. I did like all the different types of bridge along the walk. We passed 2 crosswalks during our 6.2 mile walk.
It's a nice walking trail it connects to others. There is a long wall where the parking lot is and it's a walk you go down into. The wall collapsed from flooding and it looks like there may be another landslide there shortly. There are usually a lot of people around. It doesn't continue across the road as it should.
Quiet and pretty path to run, bike, and walk along. Paved with some bridges throughout.
Overall this is an outstanding urban trail - it is well marked, well kept, and well traveled. The trail has very little incline/decline sections and makes it pretty easy for all skill & ability levels. There is wildlife along the way, furry to feathered...
