Confirmed from Melvin Roberts Park (Cedar Street Park)'s own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Melvin Roberts Park (Cedar Street Park)

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (185 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“It's a beautiful little nature trail away from the softball fields.”

Great place to take the kids. Baseball games are always going on and next door is several tennis courts, basketball court, racquetball court, small playground, covered gazebo with picnic tables, and a small nature trail that leads to wooden boardwalk that connects to a covered gazebo overlooking a small pond that is…

We love this park. We walk or bike to here because it's close to the house and the kids love feeding the fish and turtles, sandwich meat is the turtles favorite. We see snakes here from time to time, but we are looking for them. Almost every one has been a water snake, non-venomous so they are great to have around.

I walk my 🐕 , Molly Belle , there , they have tennis courts , a turtle pond with big Coy fish , and others , a gazebo over the water .... It like a little """ Wetland """ sanctuary. I call owl's up , which is a treat to me , Molly loves seeing the squirrels.

A real life saver. Drove all night only to find no accommodations upon arriving at Gulf Shores. Set up our lounge chairs under a shade tree and got some shut eye. Afterwards, we were able to find our needed accommodations.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Melvin Roberts Park (Cedar Street Park)

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • SurfaceBoardwalk — flat and scenic, and slick when wet, so watch your footing
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
